PROFESSIONAL SOCIETY ACTIVITIES:

 

INSTITUTION OF ENGINEERS STUDENTS' CHAPTER (IEI):

Institution of Engineers Students' chapter (IEI) was Inaugurated on 27th January 2012. Mr. M. Parvez Alam, Assistant Manager, Ucal Fuels system Ltd., Chennai was the chief Guest. He presented a lecture on  " The value of Project Management – Best Practices"

Institution of Engineers Students' Chapter (IEI) conducted Inter-department Quiz Competition on 02.09.2010. More than 300 students from different departments participated. Team from second year Mechanical won the first prize and team from third year IT won the second prize.

 

Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE):

SAE TIER - I events were conducted from 01.08.2011 to 05.08.2011 and more than 50 students participated in various events of this programme.

The SAE inaugural function was conducted by our Collegiate Club on 10.08.2011 (Wednesday). Dr. Anthony Xavier, Assistant Professor, SMBS, VIT University was the chief guest. He delivered a Guest Lecture and distributes the Medals and Certificates of TIER - I winners.

Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) was inaugurated on 7th August 2009. Dr. V. Balasubramanian, Head, R& D, Delphi – TVS, Chennai was the Chief Guest. He presented a lecture on Indian Automotive Industry and its prospects.

 

Indian Institute of Production Engineers (IIPE):

Indian Institution of Production Engineers (IIPE) Students chapter was inaugurated by Dr.S.Sampath Kumar, Prof & Head, Mechanical Engineering, CEG campus, Anna University on 10.09.2011. Dr.S. Sampath Kumar delivered a key note address on "Lean Manufacturing.

Indian Institute of Production Engineers (IIPE) was inaugurated on 12th August 2009. Chief Guest of the inauguration was Mr. R. Manivannan, Managing Director of Prasanna Metals & Alloys, Arcot. Mr. R. Manivannan delivered a lecture on "Production Management".

Indian Institute of Welding (IIW)

 

Indian Institute of Welding (IIW) student's chapter was inaugurated by Mr.V.Muralidharan, Regional Director/IIW on 07.09.2011. Mr. V. Muralidharam presented a Lecture on "Opportunities for Welding Engineers".

 

Renewable Energy Club (REC):

Renewable Energy Club of our college was inaugurated on 19th August 2009 by Dr. S. Jayanthi, Professor, TPGIT, Vellore. She gave a lecture on Biomass Gasifier.

 

ISTE Students Chapter:

Mechanical Department conducted Inter-department Quiz Competition under the auspices of ISTE Students Chapter on 09.09.2009. First prize was won by the team led by Mr. Sanasam Motilal Singh of EEE Department, Second prize was won by the team led by Mr.K.Venkatesh of  I year Mechanical Department. Third prize was won the by the team led by Mr. Prince Sabahut Ali of third year Mechanical Department.

 

ISTE Chapter:

Department of Mechanical Engineering conducted Faculty Development Program "TQM in Technical Education / Institution Management" under the auspices of ISTE Chapter on 26th Nov. 2009. Dr. Brahadeeswaran, Head of Policy Planning, NITTTR, Chennai was the resource faculty. Mr. D.Kumar, ISTE Secretary was the convener of the program.
